Grey coat

Here comes the last look of the year with a grey wool coat and a tartan oversized scarf I found during boxing day. Typical me. I always find nice clothes when I'm out there shopping for something completely different. But hey, I'm not gonna complain considering the awesome deals they were.

Black bomber

I hope you all had a great Christmas and spent quality time with your families. Here in Metz, we're not done yet. Thanks our german heritage we are still celebrating on the 26th. Somebody help!

I'm taking a break from all the eating to share this look from last week:a black bomber jacket with hemless jeans and pointy heels. So simple, yet the look of the year 2016.

Dress for less

Since I've become completely independent financially, the thought of spending a fourth of my salary on clothes makes me shiver. I could, but deep inside I know it would be useless and that I'm right to favor trips and nights out. But sometimes I'm weak and literally crave shopping.

A Vegan Christmas

I don't know if you've heard but there are a lot of meat scandals going on in France, which is good in a  country where the crueler seems to taste better.

I never liked saying that I don't eat meat because people always judged me and expected me to be an anaemic hippie. It never got to me, but it sure is annoying to listen to the same old broken record over and over again. I know some people simply don't care but over the last months, the mindset seems to be changing and instead of calling me crazy, people get more and more interested in vegetarism and veganism. Including my parents.

When my mother asked me what I wanted for Christmas, I couldn't come up with any idea. I never really liked celebrating Christmas. The neverending 6 course feast was torture... except for the cake at the end. Even when I still ate meat, it was too much gravy, too much foie gras and too much fancy things I didn't like. So I told her that for once, what would make me truly happy was to have no meat on the table.

Guess who's the chef this year then? Of course it's me and here are a few things I plan on serving.

For more details about the recipes, don't hesitate to ask me.

Winter coats

I think we can all agree. The only good thing about winter is winter coats. And maybe Christmas.

Until a few years ago, I would buy one and wear it everyday until it started to show signs of use. Of course it was black every time. And of course it looked boring. But I didn't care, it looked good with everything.  Or so I thought.

Pumpkin and chickpea tagine

I have spent a lot of time in the kitchen the last couple of weeks. First of all, it's cold, which makes me crave casseroles and stews but also, it relaxes me a lot. I spend my days reviewing files so getting my hands dirty has become twice as nice.

November 30, 2016

Goth black dress

Man it has become complicated to take outfit pictures between loaded workdays, busy weekends and daily tasks. Usually, when I'm finally done, it's dark outside. Or rainy. Or both. Either way, I don't want it to stop me. I guess indoor pictures it has to be.

November 25, 2016

Broccoli and Kale soup

Despite having tried raw kale in many different ways, I still don't like it, yet the hipster in me really wants to add that green to my diet. Lucky for me, cooked kale is a whole other story.

November 22, 2016

Burgundy dress

Every time I get ready for work, I am torn between wanting to wear something nice and different and wanting to wear something comfy. Most of the time, comfort wins because after all, I don't see that many people behind my computer but sometimes I find a good compromise like this Mango dress from a few years ago.

November 17, 2016

I didn't think I could wear mom jeans in winter but a pair of Jimmy Choo's later, here I am!

November 14, 2016

Just grey

Who would have thought that finding a nice oversized grey sweater was going to be so hard? It took me an entire day to find it but once again, H&M saved the day.

November 6, 2016

Every season change is the perfect occasion to update a wardrobe by adding a few new pieces. The colder temperatures the last couple of days have made it all about knits for me. Nothing beats a snuggly sweater does it?

November 1, 2016

No hem, no problem

As time passes, I feel more and more relaxed: At least it's what I noticed. In situations where a few years ago, I would have gotten a stroke from anger, I now don't even bother and just let go. I gotta say it feels good.

Antik Batik

A few weeks ago, I fell in love with an Antik Batik bag... that was sold out on their website. Inevitably, when I saw another one on sale and that I liked a lot too, I couldn't resist. Just for the wait, you know?

October 17, 2016

Accordion skirt

The pleated midi skirt appears to be one of the wardrobe staples for fall 2016 and if you don't own one yet, please go get one as it never really runs out of style. Don't believe me? My mom still wears hers today!

October 11, 2016

The lenght of my skirt

As a blogger, I obviously read a lot of other blogs, browse instagram, lookbook and such and if there's one thing I find truly hilarious, it's outfits labeled as "work outfits" featuring a super short skirt or a minidress. I have nothing against mini skirts per say but in real life, if you show up at work wearing that, you might have a bad surprise.

October 4, 2016

It's funny how efficient advertising can be. Even when you think you're not being influenced, you are. I think the worst for me is my Instagram feed but it's not what tricked me this time.

September 27, 2016

Pink leather and tigers

Pink is definitely not my go to color but when it comes to brightening up a work outfit, I'm up for anything. The weather is still quite nice out here, though a bit chilly in the morning, which is perfect to slowly transition into fall. Hello leather!

September 15, 2016

Too casual for work

One of the things I like the most in Belgium is probably how everyone here spends as much time as possible outside. Wether it's a walk in the park, a bike ride in the forest or just soaking up the sun with a beer, the second the sky clears, Belgians will go outdoors.

September 7, 2016

My vegan Bolognese

It's been a while since I last posted something food related and the reason for it is very simple: Between vacations and dining out, I haven't been in the kitchen that much. Now that things got back to normal, it's time for me to share on of my favourites.

A lot of vegerarians will tell you they don't miss meat and that there are so many options out there that you don't need to eat anything remotely close to it. I'm not like that. I miss meat... A lot. But I'm stronger than that!

Among all the things I miss, Bolognese sauce is perhaps top of the list. It takes me back to my middle school years, when I would hop off the school bus on Wednesday noon and walk straight home where my mother had cooked spaghetti. Oh the level of comfort! Luckily I managed to come up with something really close to the real deal thanks to seitan. Depending on the brand you'll get, you can even trick people into believing it's meat.

September 1, 2016

Black and white

I never liked September. Never ever! It's that time of the year you have to go back to work or back to school but worse than that, you know there's only a few sunny days left before the sky turns grey again. But at least this year, it's different, it's gonna save the summer.

August 28, 2016

The mom jeans return

I can't believe September is already here! Just a few days ago I was still soaking up the sun in France and Monday seemed lightyears away. Times flies fast. Luckily the weather in Belgium has been kind enough to let me enjoy some more beach time in Ostend which made the transition much easier to cope with.

August 25, 2016

A poncho and a dog

I'm on my way back from my other vacation in France as I'm writing this post and even if coming back home feels sort of nice, it's hard to accept I will go back to work on Monday.

August 13, 2016

Coats and jackets

I gotta say, whenever I see pictures of summer outfits on Instagram or on other blogs, I get a little bit jealous. I know Belgium is not renowned for its brilliant weather but having had only a few days of sun this year was particularly rough.

August 9, 2016

My boyfriend tee

I have three main interests: science, food and fashion. One would think those have nothing in common but in reality, they share one characteristic: creativity.

August 7, 2016

My brown lace top

Nothing screams boho more than a lace top and clearly, I wouldn't risk it at the office but as soon as the weekend is here, I would throw one on. If the weather is good enough that is... or if I'm at the beach!

August 4, 2016

The rockstud lookalikes

I have been obsessed with the Valentino rocketed shoes for so long that I can't believe I still haven't bought  a pair yet. Wether they're pumps or sandals, I love them! If I had all the money in the world, I would probably own a pair in every color... aaaand back to reality.

July 31, 2016

Floral Kimono

Ah it's good to be home! I'm back from a trip to the south of France with my batteries recharged and ready to rock out!

July 22, 2016

A white summer dress

Oh how good it feels to say that I'm on holiday! I stopped in my hometown for a few days before heading to the South of France and trust me, it's extremely warm out here. So warm you don't feel like doing anything... not even moving.

July 20, 2016

The case of the blue skater skirt

I have a love-hate relationship with skater skirts. I love the way they look... But not on me. They make me feel like I've put on 5kg instantly and needless to say, they're not the most practical thing to wear.

July 17, 2016

Finally my first summer outfit post has arrived... and we're already in the middle of July. Better late than never, right?

July 14, 2016

The boyfriend shirt

Among the clothes a girl can steal from her boyfriend, shirts are probably top of the list. In theory. In real life, most of us are either too short, too skinny or too big compared to them to wear their actual clothes. However, that doesn't mean we can't adopt the boyfriend style. All it takes is to shop the men's section. To be honest, I even prefer that option as you can pick the exact fit you want.

July 10, 2016

Good old basics

I don't think I have ever been this tired my whole life. I have to admit that going to work, working on my PhD, daily chores, running all sorts of errands and keeping a social life all at once is already quite exhausting therefore, blogging was out of the picture for a while. Luckily, I will be on vacation soon and even if my plans are still vague, I have no doubt it will do me good.

June 26, 2016

Kale and Hummus Wraps

I've been a vegetarian for a while now and lately I've been adding more and more vegan meals to my diet. For the best.

Before I start with the recipe, I would like to share a tip for my Brussels readers. On saturday morning I went to a nice organic market located in rue des tanneurs (huidevettersstaat) and really, you should give it a try. Obviously, the veggies are fresh but also, the prices are wallet-friendly.

So there I was with all my fresh organic vegetables, ready to cook my vitamin packed meals for the week.

I found the original recipe on oneingredientchef and it's truly easy as pie and delicious.

June 22, 2016

There's something about bird prints that makes me really happy. I just can't say no to them! They're my thing I guess and people know it. Actually, I got this shirt from my mom because when she saw it at Zara, she knew I had to have it. She was right, plus it's always nice to get a present from your mom! I simply paired it with my 501's, heels and voilà... I managed to rock the mom jeans at work.

June 19, 2016

Skater skirt x crop top

Saying that I don't feel like shopping is an understatement. With the constant pouring and the weird temperatures, it's hard to decide what to wear these days. And the same way, it's hard to decide what to buy. I mean, why spend money on something you're not going to wear?

June 14, 2016

Believe it or not, this is my first trench coat. For a very long time, I dreamed of getting the real deal: a beautiful Burberry trench coat that I would keep forever. But that was before I became a real adult and had to pay all my bills, buy furniture, a car and all kinds of boring grownup stuff. The idea of spending over 1.5K on a coat now gives me the shivers.

June 5, 2016

Wide leg

Not a lot of things make me as happy as wearing shorts. Happiness lies in small things doesn't it?

I know that for some people, this doesn't make any sense, but trust me, when you live someplace where it's normal to turn the radiators on in the middle of July, you are really ecstatic when you get to wear your summer clothes.

May 31, 2016

I have to admit, I don't like spring so much. Don't get me wrong, I love the days getting longer, the blooming flowers and the temperatures getting warmer. I just hate that the weather is so unstable. And as you know, that is particularly true this year.

May 24, 2016

Mom jeans

Clearly, I'm not the first to experiment with mom jeans. Against incredible odds, they're kind of a major trend right now and even if I usually don't fall for trends, they have become my latest craze.  For some reason, I had this combo of mom jeans and pointy heels stuck in my head.

May 18, 2016

Harem pants

I have no idea when (or if) my quest for comfortable clothing will end. For the first time in my life, I wore harem pants to work while I normally wear them at home. But hey, this time I picked a black pair I have since last year instead of my usual flashy and colourful ones. Turns out that when you pair harem pants with a good blazer, they're just as good as carrot pants, except they look a lot less formal.

May 10, 2016

Let's pick up where we left off: with a pencil skirt  and a crop top of course, this time with a tie & dye bomber jacket. Nostalgy makes the perfect excuse to adopt the 90's style but let's be honest, spending the day in extra comfy clothes is more than pleasing.

May 6, 2016

Grey and navy

Told you I was into midi pencil skirts! You're probably going to see a lot on here as for once, you can find really great ones for cheap in stores like H&M, forever 21 or Zara.

Like I said, the possibilities to style these skirts are infinite. This time I paired the grey fleece skirt from last post with a navy sweater for a more dressed up look and added my yellow peep toes to brighten it up.

May 4, 2016

Butternut squash and sage risotto

Butternut squash is one of my favourite veggies (OK to be fair, there are not that many vegetables I don't like). However, I tend to always cook it the same way: in a delicious creamy soup, perfect for winter, but not exactly what I'm craving these days.
