The New Year's one

Woooo! 2017 is almost over. Seriously, things went way too fast since I got back from my last vacation in September. I made a lot of changes to my lifestyle since then and I'm really happy with the results. The plan for 2018 is to keep having a capsule wardrobe, keep shopping ethical and keep eating vegan. For my new resolutions, see you in January.

The Christmas one

Merry Christmas everyone! I hope you're all having a great time with your loved ones. I thought I would take a break from all the celebrations to do a quick post with the outfit I wore yesterday.

Grandpa sweater

You have no idea how excited I get each time I post a vegan outfit. It's not really because of the clothes themselves but more because it helps me realize that I am getting one step closer to my ideal wardrobe.

Black mom jeans

Brussels is great when it comes to vintage clothing. I can't count how many thrift shops and second hand stores are out there. Though I wouldn't buy everything there, when it comes to mom jeans, I definitely prefer picking a vintage pair over a brand new one.

New in my winter capsule

As promised, here is a post to show you the new additions to my wardrobe for this winter. I guess we can agree there are not many, though when I look at the time I spent searching for ethical brands online, it feels like I've done a shopping marathon. Of course, I found many more pieces that I liked but a) I am limited to 40 pieces, b) they don't necessarily fit my current lifestyle or environment and c) I don't really see a point in building a capsule wardrobe if everything you wear is new each season. However, I bookmarked the brands and I might shop there sporadically in the future.

Now let's move on to my 5 items!

First, I need to talk about my LaBante Piccadilly. Technically, it's not part of my capsule per say, but because LaBante bags have become my favourite bags, I wanted to include it. They're just the best and believe me this is not even sponsored content!

After that, there's my pair of vegan TUK 3-buckle creepers. Saw them on Instagram, wanted them immediately, had to wait until they were finally released. I just find them great as they work as fine with jeans as they do with dresses and they just bring that edgy touch to any outfit without being over the top.

You already know my Izzy Lane Grimsby sweater. What else can I say about it? I just adore it!

And last but not least, I thrifted a pair of vintage black mom jeans and an oversized men's sweater. As great as sustainable fashion is, I believe shopping second hand and using your old clothes is still the best and easiest way to be greener when it comes to your wardrobe.

---

Cruelty free AF

Some time ago, I was telling you about my cruelty free Izzy Lane sweater. Well here is my first outfit with it. I paired it with my burgundy faux leather skirt that you'll recognize from my fall capsule, my Piccadilly bag by Labante and my brand new pair of T.U.K. triple buckle vegan creepers. Yep, you heard me, I said vegan! So those creepers are another one of my new additions to my winter capsule and you might see them a lot too during the upcoming months.

Winter capsule

Izzy Lane, cruelty free wool

If you listen to Peta and/or vegans, there is no such thing as ethical wool. I always knew that was false. Well, always... more like since I carpooled with a young man who was carrying wool from his mother's rescue lamas to a small wool mill. Yep, even rescue animals need a little shearing for their well being. That's how the idea of buying yarn from rescue animals as a way to support them started to grow on me. But, three years later, I still don't know how to knit!

Piccadilly

My fall capsule is coming to an end! I'm really glad I managed to make it last all three months, though, I need to admit I am starting to be a little cold some days and I'm almost excited about wearing my winter coats.

Swedish stockings, sustainable hosiery

Even if I try to persist, there's always a time when it is no longer possible to walk around with bare legs under our latitudes. Every year, the same thing happens. I pile up stockings that I will joyfully rip one after another until the next spring. Oh the pantyhose! A pure jewel of the petrochemical industry... My own consumption alone is alarming, but knowing we are millions to buy tights, wear them a few times and then throw them away gives me shivers down my spine. That's the thought that made me want to look for an eco-friendly hosiery brand.

Luxury bags

One of the biggest dilemmas I'm facing since I decided to have a more eco-friendly wardrobe is knowing if I was going to keep all my luxury goods or not. A part of me thinks I should be an example and not wear them anymore, but the other part thinks it doesn't matter so much. Luxury brands sell well anyway and what I wear won't make much of a difference. On the other hand, buying new stuff, even the most eco-friendly brands, to replace things that are in a perfect condition doesn't seem like the most sustainable option to me. So for now, I chose to keep everything. Every new purchase though, will have to be ethical! Meanwhile, here is an outfit with my LV rubber boots and Mulberry crossbody.

Fall 17 uniform

Oooooh, starting today, I'm allowed to do some shopping! I can't tell you how excited I am! But for now, it's still about posting fall capsule looks.

November 12, 2017

Pleats and denim

Vintage, denim, pleats... today's outfit is a denim men's shirt and my mom's pleated skirt.

November 9, 2017

Same but different

Oh no! Another post with a chunky sweater, jeans and my embroidered boots.

November 7, 2017

plaid maxi scarf

Aaaand, it's now really time to take out the scarves and chunky knits. At least that's what I thought when I found my windshield frozen this morning. I went back inside real fast to grab my maxi plaid scarf and wrap myself in it.

Monday attire

Happy Monday everyone! I admit, the week is going to be short for me considering I only work today. That really gave me some motivation and I had the courage to rock some heels.

October 28, 2017

Ethnoskirt

Mixing and matching the same clothes over and over again isn't always easy, yet it is necessary when you have a capsule.

An honest review about LaBante bags

I'm soon reaching month 3 of my fall capsule. Know what that means? I'm finally getting to do some shopping soon! And since I planned on ordering a bag from LaBante, I thought it was the perfect time to give you a little update about my experience with that cool vegan accessories brand.

October 16, 2017

The LBD goes boho

I don't know if it's the same for you but the weather here was amazing all weekend! I took the opportunity to jog as much as possible and walk around just to enjoy the last sunny days of the year and recharge my batteries. Here I am now, ready to face the week.

October 11, 2017

Little tigers

I don't know how many tries it took me to be able to finally post this look. Between the rain, the days getting shorter and being tired, it was a real pain to succeed at taking decent pictures!

Cardigan season

I believe light grey cardigans are a must-have staple for any good wardrobe. I don't know if you would agree, but they make me think of Scandinavian fashion and its cozy and comfortable spirit. Today, in order to stay on the comfy casual side, I'm wearing mine with my 501's and my Nike free's.

The Feeting Room

Facebook ads can be great sometimes. While I was in Porto, I saw one for a store called the Feeting Room in my feed and since the weather was a bit sucky, I thought it would be a great time to check it out. Well, let me tell you I was not disappointed!

September 20, 2017

Spicy peanut tofu

It's been forever since I last posted a recipe but I found something so grand I had to share it. Yeah, yeah I'm gonna talk about Porto again, I know, but I promise, it won't be long.

September 16, 2017

Pleated skirt x boyfriend sweater

Capsule look number two: pleated midi skirt, chunky ankle boots and boyfriend sweater. Alright, I admit it was a bit of a pain to wear boots again since it means the summer is really over but hey, what can we do about it?

September 12, 2017

Holy Slowly

Here we go! My first capsule outfit. Nothing new except a really cool t-shirt I found in Porto. I love animals but I love sloths even more so I did not hesitate for a second. Maybe because we have so much in common! This tee then become the 39th piece of my wardrobe.

September 3, 2017

Jumpsuit...ish

I'm back after a little break I really needed. I took the opportunity to go back to Porto and even if the weather wasn't that great, it felt great to be back in a city I love.

August 25, 2017

My capsule is ready!

If there's one thing I hate, it's the week before a vacation. In spite of being well organized, I always end up with a ton of errands to run.

August 9, 2017

The pink dress

I know I said I wasn't going to buy anything until this fall but this was a bit of a necessity. I am going to a wedding in a few days and even though it's nothing fancy, we were kindly asked to wear pink.

The thing is, I don't own that much pink.

July 26, 2017

Breton skirt

I'm finally back! I admit I haven't be very active on here lately, mainly because I've been busy but also because the weather has been so bad that taking pictures was a pain.

July 13, 2017

Those pants

Ever since I started working, there's a love story going on between me and harem pants, and even more when they come with a funky print. Because you know, you can't really do shorts at the office when it's warm.

July 11, 2017

To capsule or not capsule?

Lately it's been much more calm at work so I found some time to read more about capsule wardrobes... and it really clicked. I'm so tired of always feeling like I have nothing to wear so it's enough, I'm getting started this fall.

July 5, 2017

Vintage pleated skirt

I've spent a good part of the week sorting the clothes that I don't wear anymore and I'm pretty sure I have enough to survive the entire summer... but then again, summer never really lasts that long over here. Anyhow, I've put quite a few things for sale on Vinted, including my black pleated skirt from Boohoo. As a replacement, I got my mother's old skirt which she doesn't wear anymore. As it's finally warm again, today was the perfect occasion to wear it to work with a white tee and my air force one's.

June 29, 2017

Denim skirt and tank top

I just noticed that it's been almost two months since I last purchased clothes or accessories. I need to admit the weather helped a lot as I felt more like having gin tonics on my terrace than facing the heat of the city or sitting in front of my screen.

June 21, 2017

V like vegan

I was bragging about it in my last post, and now here comes the first outfit with my brand new bag from the English vegan brand LaBante. It's simple, since I got it, I haven't left it! On top of being practical, it goes well with everything and hits the mark. Today, I'am wearing it with a black dress from last winter and my Elyse creepers.

June 20, 2017

Printed pants

We all know that finding something to wear to work when it's really warm can be a bit of a struggle and considering the coming week, we're gonna have to be creative. Dresses are nice but I like a change every now and then so I took these good old harem pants from the french brand Naf Naf out of the closet and wore them with a simple white tee, sandals and of course, my awesome vegan bag from LaBante.

June 17, 2017

Blue suede loafers

There are two kinds of people in the fashion world: those who match their accessories with their clothes and those who match their clothes with their accessories. I am one of the latter.

June 6, 2017

Pink skirt x white tee

I know I shouldn't be wearing this leather skirt anymore but well, I really don't want to be one of those ultra vegans who throw away everything they own overnight. I have it, so I'm keeping it and there is no need to waste.
