A Merry vegan Christmas: The Chestnut Yule log

You just had the main course, now it's time for something sweet! In France, the traditional Christmas dessert is the Yule log. It doesn't matter if it's cake, mousse, ice cream or actual wood, as long as it's a log that is being served. The most traditional flavour is definitely chestnut and it also happen to be my favourite. So it's only natural for me to learn how to make a vegan version of it, don't you think?

A Merry Vegan Christmas: Mushroom Wellington

This year will mark the 4th meat-free Christmas for me and my family and to be completely honest, I think everyone likes it better this way. After all, there is something a little twisted about bringing cruelty to your table while celebrating with joy.

My good old coat

Doesn't matter if you shop from sustainable brands or not, if you want to be a more conscious shopper, there is one simple question you have to ask yourself every time you buy a new garment:

The green rain coat

I don't know if I should call this one a rain coat or a trench coat but it definitely stands somewhere in-between.

Girls can wear kilts too

Apparently Tartan is in this Winter and I'm in luck, I just found this beautiful kilt and it cost me nothing!

The maxi cardi

Ok, it's now officially cold, which means it was time to take my winter knits out. While cleaning them, I couldn't help but notice I still had wool sweaters and it made me think of the issue with them.

The Twin Peaks one

The last couple of weekends, I've been binge watching Twin Peaks and daaaamn, the fashion in that show is on point.

Just staples

When I first started this blog, it didn't really have a purpose, other than sharing some outfits. But over the years, I became more aware of the impact of fashion on the environment and figured that I could use the blog as a platform to show how to be more sustainable without compromising on style.

Not Venomous

To all nature lovers and science enthusiasts! As promised in my last post, I'm writing this article to tell you more about a super cool French brand: Not Venomous.

October 19, 2018

You can't buy happiness

Very recently, I ordered two t-shirts from a French brand called Not Venomous. I will tell you about the brand itself in my next post because it's totally awesome but today I will be talking about something completely different: how our wardrobes are full of clothes yet we have nothing to wear.

We've all been there haven't we?

Outfit repeat

One of my last articles was about what I learned from capsule closeting and how I wear the same clothes all the time. Today's outfit is a good example to talk about that.

Borlotti bean and quinoa minestrone (vegan of course)

Long time no food post! I was so sure I had posted this delicious and hearty minestrone recipe already but apparently not. Better late than never, right?

What I learned from having a capsule wardrobe

One year (and a month ago), I decided I was going to build a capsule wardrobe. And I did.

So, you wanna go vegan but you don't like veggies?

Sounds like quite an issue considering you can't live on just pasta and bread, doesn't it?

How to stop buying clothes

Wether you would like to simply save money or you're trying to embrace a more minimalistic lifestyle, I'm pretty sure you've already thought to yourself at least once: " I really need to buy less clothes". Guess what... I've got your back!

The 15 timeless pieces you need in your wardrobe for the perfect capsule

In my last article, I was telling you about different ways of having a more sustainable wardrobe and one of my tips was to focus on pieces that never run out of style. Later that day I figured maybe I should have made a list of those fashion staples in case you needed help to build your capsule wardrobe.

Can you be fashionable and sustainable?

Admit it. Whenever you hear sustainable fashion, you think hemp clothes and hiking shoes. I did too. So when I first decided to embrace a greener lifestyle, I believed that it was going to be tough on my wardrobe and I really wondered: Is it even possible to follow trends and be sustainable?

Five good reasons to go vegan that are not the ones you think

Very often (all the time actually), I don't understand why people continue to eat meat knowing it's cruel, unhealthy and terrible for the environment when there are so many plant based options available. Obviously, there's the people who don't give a damn but I dare to hope they're not the majority. And next to them, there's those who think that being vegan is a huge sacrifice. I used to be like that and only did it for the animals but it didn't take long until I change my mind and I'll tell you why.

Where there's a will there's a way

Changing habits isn't easy. I know that most people tend to make drastic changes overnight but hey guess what? That's how they end up quitting and this is true whether you're talking about diet, exercise, spending habits or god knows what else.

Transitioning already

I've been M.I.A. the past weeks and the reason for that is simple: my camera broke down. Therefore, no outfit posts but you didn't miss much anyway. The heatwave made me super lazy and having to work every day did not help. So it was shorts and tees during my free time. But now I'm back!

The skirt from last year

It's so easy to get that new clothes feel without actually buying something new.

My trip to the Belgian coast must have revived my love for the sea!

Same shorts, different day

I think you'll recognize the shorts. They're the same as in my last outfit post.

Vegan cherry clafoutis

It's cherry season! Too bad I don't like them so much. But since I know they're packed with vitamin C and antioxydants, I force myself to eat them, especially since I get them fresh and organic from my parent's garden. They have two types: sweet cherries and sour cherries. I prefer the latter, which I think work better for cakes and pastries.

6 easy tips to build a sustainable wardrobe (when you don't like to shop online)

Here is a super simple and comfy af all white outfit that I put together using my organic basics tee, my veja's and vintage shorts I took from my mom's closet (with her permission of course)

w.r.yuma, the belgian sustainable sunnies

Today, I'm gonna tell you about one of my favourite finds this summer: the eco-friendly eyewear brand w.r.yuma coming straight from Antwerp. I know, it may not be the sunniest place on Earth
but I really am talking a Belgian brand.

Hopaal: french recycled clothing

When you look at a nice and clean white tee, it's hard to imagine how polluting the textile industry is.  Yet, it's one of the biggest polluters in the world. First, you gotta grow all that cotton that requires insane amounts of water and that we spray with all sorts of pesticides and then turning that cotton into garments, we need more chemicals that end up in our rivers. And don't get me started on synthetic fabrics, energy consumption or all the clothes that end up in landfills!

As I feared, a spring capsule wardrobe is not a realistic thing in Belgium.

Zucchini gratin the vegan way

I've never been that much into French cuisine as most of the dishes are a little too rich for my taste but there are, of course, a few exceptions. Gratin is one of them.

Random blogging thoughts

Writing about old clothes isn't always easy. You've probably seen me in my 501's a hundred times and honestly, I have nothing more to say about them other than that I love them.

April 9, 2018

A vintage Chanel blazer is one of those things I've always wanted to have in my wardrobe but unfortunately, I rarely came across one I really liked and when I did, it was never my size. I am confident I will find one eventually though.

Bo Carter

Looking for cool ethical and sustainable clothing brands has become a real hobby for me and I gotta say, I've collected a few names already but since I work with a capsule wardrobe, I can't shop from all of them at once. Bo Carter was in my bucket list for a while now and let me tell you, I am very happy with my order.

Ethics vs Budget

The more I look into it, the more I realize that there are a thousand ways to achieve a more sustainable wardrobe. Today's outfit is a good example of that.

Cheap Monday Jeans

A couple of years ago Cheap Monday was my favorite brand when it came to denim. I loved their cuts and I loved their wash. At the time, I did not care about sustainability or anything like it. And not many did I think.

Maple glazed tofu: the best thing you'll eat this week

People think tofu is boring. I used to be like them until recently. In other words, I didn't know how to cook it. I changed my mind with this spicy peanut tofu recipe and now, after trying this maple glazed tofu, I think I can call tofu one of my favourite foods. And guess what? It's very easy to make!

The hybrid

Being a blogger when you have a full time job is hard. Sure, sometimes it takes me only a few minutes to get my outfit pictures right but trust me, that is far from being the norm. Most cases, something gets in the way and makes it nearly impossible to squeeze a photoshoot into my schedule. It can be the weather that isn't right, or the light, errands I need to run or simply me being too tired or just not in the mood to take pictures.

Lentil hummus

As far as I can remember, I have always loved legumes, even as a kid. Needless to explain how I feel about hummus then. I could eat that for every meal! But this month, I decided to finish all the stuff that's lying around in my pantry and use what I have to  make food thefore this simple and delicious lentil hummus recipe.

A capsule wardrobe guide for the lazy girl

Technically, I have two weeks left with my winter capsule but in reality, I think I'm gonna have to make it last at least another week or two. I mean, look at the weather. That leaves me with a bit more time to prepare my spring capsule. Neat!

Tucked it in

Today's outfit is a great example of a smart way to use the clothes in my closet. I wear both this white oversized sweater and faux leather skirt a lot, but never together until now because the sweater is quite long and I assumed it wouldn't work if I tucked it in the skirt. Guess who was wrong? I just added some patterned tights to add a fun touch to the ensemble and here we go with an outfit I've never worn before!
